CCP Internal Fighting Intensifies, Wen Criticised in the New Year
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com At the beginning of the New Year, Chinese premier Wen Jiabao was criticised by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s magazine, Qiushi. Some media highlighted that this is the fourth time the CCP media criticized his opinion on China's moral degradation without mentioning Wen's name. Scholars said that criticising Wen reflects the intensified CCP Internal fighting before 18th Congress. On Jan.1, the CCP's party media, Qiushi, published, "Correct way of understanding the current moral situation." Some media pointed out that following the party's media Guangming Daily's article, this is the fourth time criticising Wen's opinion regarding China's moral degradation. On April 2011, Wen said that what happened recently with the series of food safety incidents such as "tainted milk," "lean meat powder", "drainage oil," and "tainted steamed buns" shows lack of integrity and serious moral decline in Chinese society. Qiushi magazine published part of Hu Jintao's 6th Plenary Session's speech echoing this article, accusing a western country of trying to westernize and divide China. It is speculated that the articles intended to show Hu criticizing Wen. Hong Kong Apple Daily reported that Qiushi and Guangming Daily are controlled by the CCP central propaganda department. Two media publicised articles about Wen Jiabao not only highlights Hu and Wen's differing political opinions, but also highlights the intensified ...

An ex-official of Central Propaganda Department analyzed that waves of anti-authoritarian activities in the world and frequent domestic unrests contributed to the CCP's fear. This is another round of its control over the media. Zhang Kaichen, ex-official of the Propaganda Department of Shenyang City, said "Beijing News" and "Jinghua Times" will be subject to the control of Beijing Propaganda Department. The CCP authorities' action is out of fear that a revolution similar to the "Arab Spring" will occur in China. So, it tightens control over the media. Zhang Kaichen: "The Arab Spring Revolutions that broke out in Tunisia, Egypt, and especially in Libya, have caused a particularly massive shock to the CCP authorities. Now they are beset with numerous contradictions and frequent domestic emergencies that are hard to ward off. The CCP has committed a heinous crime during its 90-year history, it will not change. So it will do nothing but aggravate overall suppression." The CCP authorities have not given any reason for the changes nor declared what has been arranged for Jiao Li. The action has aroused conjecture and guessing. On November 24, CCP official media Xinhua.org reported that the CCP Central Committee had approved the naming of Hu Zhanfan as the new CCTV president, replacing Jiao Li. The Xinhua report published the resumes of two people, but without mentioning the reason for Jiao Li's dismissal, nor stating Jiao's new appointment. Staff at the Guangming Daily, one the CCP's official newspapers told the media that they had not yet received any related notification from the authorities. It expresses worry that US officials will win over Chinese people's heart. Comments say that Guangming Daily tries to instigate anti-American sentiment in the age of open information. That will only bring ridicule. Later, Guangming Daily removed the article from its website. Entitled "Beware Of Locke's Neo--colonialism," the article directs its attack to the new American ambassador. It admits, Locke brought no followers to his post, no guards, no flowers or applause, but only his family with large bags. This conduct is in sharp contrast to the Chinese bureaucrats, winning the acclaim of many ordinary Chinese people. At the same time the article says, "Locke is not trying to educate Chinese officials, but to win over Chinese people, to strengthen Chinese people's fawning servility, and to break up China's ideology." The article claims, "Locke's performance of incorruptibility is a despicable intention of instigating political unrest in China." Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com Earlier, the mainland Chinese premier Wen Jiabao openly expressed that moral degradation is very serious in China, sparking discussion from all levels of society. However, a recent article from CCP central committee paper wrote, "Do Not Always Say Moral Decline." This is viewed as criticism of Wen Jiabao. Last month, a two year old, Yueyue from Foshan, Shangdong Province was crushed by a car. 18 bystanders walked by, but no one helped the little girl. At last a garbage collector lady saved her, but she died 9 days later in the hospital. What happened to little Yueyue was shocking and heart breaking, and drew discussion from entire Chinese society regarding the moral degradation and ignorance of life in mainland China. On Oct 31st, the CCP's official newspaper Guangming Daily wrote an article titled, "Do Not Always Say Moral Decline." The article expressed that basing moral decline in China on the actions of 18 is not right, acts of kindness and courage happen everyday. The Guangming Daily did not mention that little Yueyue had died. Other mouthpiece medias, Renmin Daily and CCTV, intentionally filtered little Yueyue's story and did not report it at all. Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Become a Fan on FACEBOOK: on.fb.me The State Council's Poverty Alleviation Office repeatedly said publicly that closely behind India, China has the 2nd largest poverty-stricken population. National Committee member Shen Wen proposed to raise the existing poverty line to above 2400 yuan. There is little investment in poverty alleviation projects. Hundreds of millions are artificially "lifted from poverty". Is the authorities' insistence on a low poverty line to highlight their achievements or to cover up the poverty quagmire? Poverty line is designed to identify the needy groups. The state should then provide them relief assistance. The availability of government resources doesn't affect the level of the poverty line. Raising the poverty line would put more people back to the category of poverty-stricken. It would be more demanding for the government to alleviate poverty. US-based Chinese economist He Qinglian said, according to World Bank standard set for China, which is per capita daily consumption below 1 USD, the poverty-stricken population in China is 350 million.
